The Ethereum-based NFT blockchain gaming platform — Axie Infinity, has set a new ATH of $18.34. Presently, the price of AXS is $16.83. There is no doubt that the NFT industry is thriving. Fortunately, this success extends to the NFT gaming industry as well.
In particular, Axie Infinity’s token — AXS, went up by 45%. In just one night, the price of AXS set a new ATH. Axie Infinity is known for its Pokemon-inspired open world game. Players can access the game via Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows.
Here, players can train, raise, and battle charming and impressive tokenized monsters known as ‘Axies’. The gaming platform saw increasing popularity right around the end of June 2021. Currently, the game is home to over 250,000 active daily players. Notably, the Axie sold for the highest price so far is recorded at 300 ETH. This estimates to over $628,000 in today’s ETH price.
Remarkably, the game places a high hurdle when it comes to entering the platform. New players looking to join the game must first acquire three Axie NFTs. This is already a big challenge as even the most affordable Axie costs a good amount of ETH. Specifically, it would cost at least a couple of hundred dollars.
Players can begin by getting an Axie from the Axie Marketplace. The game’s token — AXS, is an ERC-20 token. While the Axies act as non-fungible tokens/collectibles. The AXS token is used for governance on the platform.
This governance token made its debut in November 2020, on Binance. It stands for ‘Axie Infinity Shards’. Players receive AXS as game rewards and governance rights when they complete in-game quests and AXS HODLing.
Finally, along with AXS, two other blockchain gaming tokens also saw a massive price hike. These tokens are The Sandbox’s token — SAND, and Decentraland’s token — MANA. SAND went up by 33.24% and stood at the price of $0.52. Similarly, MANA went up by 18% and stood at the price of $0.75.
