Brazilian National Soccer Team and Bitci Release NFT Tokens

Brazilian National Soccer Team and Bitci Release NFT
  • The Brazilian National Football Federation (CBF) is launching NFT and fan tokens.
  • CBF partnered with Turkish blockchain Bitci for this project.
  • Also, the deal includes the U20, U17, and U15 men and women’s teams.

The Brazilian National Football Federation (CBF) and Bitci have partnered to release NFT and fan tokens. The deal will also include the U20, U17, and U15 men and women’s teams.

Notably, Bitci is a Turkish blockchain that offers both non-fungible tokens (NFT) and fan tokens. As such, Bitci intends to use the partnership to give Brazilian soccer fans access to the NFTs globally. Brazilian soccer has one of the largest global fanbases. Thus, the deal will help the teams connect with their fans across the globe.

Also, fan tokens serve as the club’s currency which can be used to buy VIP perks like meet and greets with players and merch. The tokens can also be used for voting on decisions. In addition, the partners intend to list the tokens on various exchanges eventually.

The contract also states that Bitci will serve as the Brazilian national team’s official crypto. As a result, CBF cannot partner with any other blockchain during the period of the contract. Of note, Bitci has made similar deals with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the Turkish basketball team, McLaren Racing, and more.

Speaking on the partnership, Bitci CEO Onur Altan Tan noted,

With this important cooperation, we are very happy to bring our technology to South America. According to the independent survey, we are proud to be the only business partner in the blockchain area of the Brazilian team.

NFTs have increasingly become a popular way for celebrities to connect with fans. This trend has been partly driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has limited fan interactions over the last year. As such, the deal will help bridge the gap especially ahead of the Tokyo Summer Olympics in August.

Several other teams have ventured into NFTs. For instance, the Portuguese Football Federation partnered with Socios to add a fan token to its fan engagement app. Also, Germany partnered with Fanzone. France and Belgian on the other hand partnered with Sorare to launch their own NFTs.

Crypto startup Shirtum has also launched with the aim of turning soccer shirts into NFTs. The innovative platform also aims to create interactive connections between soccer players and fans. To this end, the blockchain uses features like a fanzone, museum, gallery, and an NFT marketplace.
