Cape Cod regional hospital has just received a charitable donation of about $400,000 in Bitcoin. Based on a report, Cape Cod healthcare received the said amount via an email from their longstanding donor.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the hospital received a Bitcoin donation. In January, the hospital received about $400,000 from the same donor. These two donations significantly make the total of $800,000.
Based on the email, Cape Cod Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Christopher Lawson said,
Before we responded, we had to make sure there were not any issues. It required a good amount of research…My office probably spent a week or two doing our best to learn who else was doing this.
Before, the Cape Cod hospital created a blockchain-based account specifically for accepting digital assets. Upon the account creation, the hospital reportedly disclosed that they are now accepting cryptocurrencies.
The hospital received both their donations in the same time frame when they began accepting crypto transactions. Looking at the BTC donations, there is a possibility that Cape Cod hospital will do more in the future when it comes to Bitcoin to be precise.
