Coinbase has recently added three vice presidents to its already-stacked teams, namely Shilpa Dhar, Ravi Byakod, and Frank Yoo. These were former leads from industry giants Google, Adobe, and Venmo.
Specifically, Dhar will be in charge of Product; Byakod will handle Engineering, while Yoo will be at the helm of the Design & Research departments.
Coinbase CPO Surojit Chatterjee said in the announcement that they will be creating a new Platforms team across their Product and Engineering org, hence the hiring of the executives.
The announcement did not give any specific details regarding the first project that the Platforms team will be working on, nor on which area of cryptocurrency payments they will be finding solutions for.
We continue making investments in talent, pushing ourselves to raise the bar on hiring and ensuring our teams are well-positioned to make our mission and vision a reality.
Prior to working at Coinbase, Dhar was once the Head of Product at payment processor Venmo. She also led various initiatives at PayPal, where she previously worked for over a decade. Byakod worked for Adobe, Google, eBay, and Flipkart before joining Coinbase. He will be working with Dhar as part of Coinbase’s latest endeavor.
Meanwhile, Yoo built his reputation by working at Google’s GSuite. He also led design teams at Lyft, LinkedIn, and Yahoo!.
Aside from adding three senior leaders to VP positions, Coinbase also revealed its “college Crypterns”, a fancy term it made for its interns. They will be helping the crypto firm develop “high-priority projects” within the 12-16 weeks of their internship.
