Ethereum 2.0 is about to reach a significant milestone in its short history — 6 million staked Ether (ETH).
Ethereum 2.0 is about to make a short history as it nears 6 million staked Ether (ETH). As per the Ethereum Launchpad, Ethereum 2.0 staking portal shows about 5.9 million staked Ether. And almost 180,000 validators powering the blockchain.
In addition, this is more than the minimum 32 staked Ether needed to become a full validator or join a staking pool.
The Ethereum Foundation also warned users about storing data. The firm said,
As a validator, you’ll be responsible for storing data, processing transactions, and adding new blocks to the blockchain. This will keep Ethereum secure for everyone and earn you new ETH in the process.
In Dec 2020, before activating the Ethereum 2.0 network at least, 524,288 ETH required to be collectively staked. Further, each validator account required a staking deposit of exactly 32 ETH. But 7 months later, Ethereum has grown with 10x more validators than the minimum network terms decided last year.
According to CoinMarketCap, ETH is trading at $2,225.77 at the time of writing. Thus, with this current price, the 5.9 million staked Ether is worth around $12.29 billion in market exchange value.
