- Optimist is working on a documentary based on Ethereum.
- Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin will feature in the documentary.
- Also, Optimist is trying to raise 750 ETH via donations to help fund the project.
An Ethereum based feature-length documentary, Ethereum: The Infinite Garden, is in the works. The company behind the documentary is working on raising 750 ETH (about $1.5 million) for the project using Mirror.
The fundraising initiative will run on Mirror until Friday, July 16. So far, the project has raised 60.3 ETH from 67 contributors. The filmmakers also shared that crowdfunding for the project will give Ethereum community the chance to get involved in the project. This way the community can also help shape the project which is still in its initial stages of development.
Commenting on crowdfunding from the ETH community, Ingrasci stated,
I think it’s so exciting that a DAO could be our executive producer. That would be the first time that’s ever happened for a film. For sure the executive producer will be someone from the community. This is why we wanted to involve the community as early as possible.
Of note, Mirror is a crypto crowd sourcing site. Several key players who were involved in building the top altcoin will feature in the documentary. Documentary participants include Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. In addition, Ethereum Foundation Executive Director Aya Miyaguchi will also make an appearance.
Notably, film production company Optimist is running the project. Carrie Weprin will produce the documentary while Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple will co-direct. Also, The Optimist team revealed that Libra co-creator Morgan Beller connect them with Buterin. Beller added that he believes Buterin’s story is one worth telling.
In fact, Weprin and Ingrasci shared that they were crypto enthusiasts before working on the project. However, the pair admitted that the interviews they have worked on have turned them into Ethereum fans.
