Chipotle Mexican Grill teamed up with former Ripple Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Stefan Thomas to give away $100,000 worth of Bitcoin (BTC) and $100,000 worth of Burritos. They are holding this giveaway as part of the ‘Burritos or Bitcoin’ game to celebrate National Burrito Day.
Chipotle Mexican Grill CMO Chris Brandt said,
We’re always looking for unique ways to enhance the celebration, and this year, we’re giving fans the opportunity to acquire two highly valuable assets: Burritos or Bitcoin.
‘Chiptocurrency’ Rescue Mission to Crack Code
While Ripple is facing regulatory lawsuits, its former CTO Stefan Thomas finds himself in a stickier situation. In a most unfortunate turn of events, he seems to have forgotten the password to his Bitcoin fortune. As per The New York Times, Stefan cannot access his IronKey hardware wallet containing 7,002 coins worth $415 million at the time of writing.
As part of the competition, Chipotle is inviting customers to try their hand at guessing what the six-digit code is. For this reason, each player will have 10 attempts to guess the code. All US citizens are welcome to play the game with no purchase required.
In light of that, those who are lucky to win will get $25,000 worth of Bitcoin. In addition to that, five hundred players can get $500 worth of BTC and up to 10,000 participants can win a free burrito.
As a matter of fact, National Burrito Day is a food holiday celebrated usually on the first Thursday of April. It is a made-up holiday, to celebrate the American love for burritos. However, it coincides with April Fool’s Day this time around, and there is a possibility that Chipotle might be joking about the giveaway.
