Blockchain company IOHK has donated thousands of dollars to the Haskell Foundation to support its vision to spread programming language education.
On November 4, IOHK announced its sponsorship with the newly-created Haskell Foundation. Specifically, IOHK donated $125,000 to the Haskell Foundation during its launching at the Haskell eXchange virtual conference. Therefore, IOHK became the largest donor and top supporter of the Haskell foundation.
IOHK CEO Charles Hoskinson further explained, saying:
IOHK believes in the power of functional programming, open-source software, and open governance. We are delighted to be able to join other key companies in supporting the future growth and adoption of Haskell.
Aside from IOHK, many companies provided support to the Haskell foundation. However, IOHK is a long-term friend of Haskell and has been supporting it in expanding its community since then. It also assists Haskell in delivering face-to-face programming language education in different countries like Ethiopia, Uganda, Magnolia, and Barbados.
Lately, IOHK has announced its support for cryptocurrency and blockchain platform Cardano. As a result, IOHK initially committed $10 million to support startups and early-stage businesses. This includes Cardano and other potential blockchain platforms in the future.
Today, Cardano is one of the top ten cryptocurrencies on Coingecko. It has a market capitalization of almost $3 billion.
Moreover, many countries around the world are now in favor of integrating their systems with blockchain. In a report, Google has deployed a cloud tool with a possible combination of blockchain technology.
