Ledger Users Outraged: Confidential Data Leaked onto RaidForums
  • Ledger users are outraged by the data breach and threaten legal action.
  • Ledger’s data breach in June was more serious than it seemed.
  • Ledger takes full responsibility and doubles down on improving security.

Today, a large pool of Ledger customer data showed up in RaidForums, a database sharing and marketplace online forum. According to Ledger, this may be a result of the data breach they faced earlier this year.

The team confirmed that the data consists of the same content that was stolen from their e-commerce database back in June.

Back then, the Ledger team believed that the attack affected up to 9,500 customers. Today, that number soared to over 270,000.

Ledger notified their customers without delay and immediately alerted the authorities. The team provided every bit of information they can at this point. They also began taking further steps to track the hackers and further fortify their security.

Since the breach in June, Ledger announced that they spent time and effort to keep their platform more secure. So far, the team took out over 170 phishing websites.

The stolen data is delicate. It holds over a million bits of information such as email addresses, physical home addresses, and phone numbers.

The team has done a lot. However, these efforts are not enough for their users. It is uncertain how hackers could choose to use this information. Ledger’s angry customers are not looking to find out. Instead, some users are threatening to take legal action.
