Japanese giant Rakuten has partnered with ShareRing (SHR) blockchain platform through its travel arm Rakuten Travel Xchange. With this, Rakuten customers can now access bookings at more than 600,000 hotels and 200,000 rentals.
Also, through innovative features like ShareLedger and ShareRing ID bookings, users can avail cheaper and faster travel bookings. Following then, the deal enables Rakuten travel bookers to pay for bookings using cryptocurrencies.
Additionally, the new partnership allows passports and other travel-related information like documents, accommodation, cards, vehicle information, to be stored in one location. Hence, users can instantly access their documents.
Rakuten Travel CEO Josh Ziegler said that “the partnership with the sharing platform (ShareRing blockchain platform) will provide Rakuten users with top-notch security.” The deal spells out several advantages for the customers.
Significantly, the entire partnership integrates bank-grade security measures. In particular, the ShareRing network app encourages instant verification of identities thereby reducing thefts and financial loss. Moreover, the technology allows users to avoid long check-in queues.
ShareRing CEO Tim Bos also acknowledged the partnership:
We’re excited to be partnering with one of the world’s largest travel providers. Rakuten Travel Xchange reaches more than one billion members around the world.
Users on the sharing platform or any of its partnering platform apps can enjoy several important benefits. Included are benefits like payment security, real-time booking service, fraud protection, decentralization, and overall data security, added Bos.
ShareRing also allows for a quicker and more secure booking process. ShareRing offers lower fees to both merchant and user; with seamless cross-border payments. This alone is a huge incentive for users on the platform.
The integration is scheduled to go live in the next two weeks, said a spokesperson for ShareRing.
