According to the Reason Podcast, US Senator Cynthia Lummis is all on Bitcoin. Reason is a US leading libertarian magazine that produces hard-hitting independent journalism on civil liberties. Also, on politics, technology, culture, policy, and commerce.
The interview happened during the Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami. It was the largest bitcoin event in history to take place in Miami. More so, over 50,000 people attended the cryptocurrency conference. Thus, it was an opportunity for crypto and blockchain enthusiasts to gather up.
US Senator Cynthia Lummis also attended the event. And Reason described her presence as one of the biggest, most surprising, and breakout stars of the conference.
During the conference, the 66-year-old freshman Republican senator from Wyoming gave her opinion about BTC. Cynthia Lummis said,
“Bitcoin not only provides a legitimate alternative store of value and medium of exchange but would act as a check on the devaluation of the US dollar and other currencies through the runaway creation of fiat money.”
In addition, she expressed her beliefs. She said that the growth of bitcoin—mistakenly assailed for its heavy use of electricity—is acting as a spur to create renewable energy in places. This includes Wyoming.
Also, she praised BTC’s privacy features. Furthermore, she noted that it gives more privacy in a world of increasing surveillance by governments and corporations alike.
